The Necessity to Speak

Equality and Tolerance has come along way within the past few decades. The civil rights movement has definitely changed things for the better, and I believe this change will continue as technology evolves. Americans are spending more time on the internet, especially young people. What these Americans are finding is a world-wide community filled with people from all different cultures and countries who are exchanging in dialog with the rest of the internet community. On the internet, boarders are non-existent. It doesn’t matter what country you live in, you are treated the same as everyone else. When you talk to these people, you realize that the person living in Egypt or Iran anywhere in the world isn't all that different from yourself. They are not “gooks” or “towl-heads” but they are ordinary people that we are able to relate to.

As more people engage in this world-wide community, people will abandon their ethnocentric way of thinking. Once people have changed their world views, Americans will be a lot less likely to support meddling in foreign affairs which could result in the deaths of innocent people. Those innocent people may include someone from the Internet that you know.

People from all over the world have sympathized with Egyptian protesters by following their tweets and
