The Necessity to Speak

Equality and Tolerance has come along way within the past few decades. The civil rights movement has definitely changed things for the better, and I believe this change will continue as technology evolves. Americans are spending more time on the internet, especially young people. What these Americans are finding is a world-wide community filled with people from all different cultures and countries who are exchanging in dialog with the rest of the internet community. On the internet, boarders are non-existent. It doesn’t matter what country you live in, you are treated the same as everyone else. When you talk to these people, you realize that the person living in Egypt or Iran anywhere in the world isn't all that different from yourself. They are not “gooks” or “towl-heads” but they are ordinary people that we are able to relate to.

As more people engage in this world-wide community, people will abandon their ethnocentric way of thinking. Once people have changed their world views, Americans will be a lot less likely to support meddling in foreign affairs which could result in the deaths of innocent people. Those innocent people may include someone from the Internet that you know.

People from all over the world have sympathized with Egyptian protesters by following their tweets and

Good Readers and Good Writers

Source:http://www.amusingplanet.com/

Reading and writing is an interesting mode of communication. In order for this communication to take place, the author must have something in his head that he wants to share. The difficult part is finding a way to transfer those ideas from the author's mind into the mind of the reader. In order to achieve this, the author must write in a way that the reader finds relevant and can somehow relate to. No author can make a story relevant to all readers because different people have different values and different ideas about the world. Some people will find it easy to identify with a certain character and or a certain conflict, but not everyone will be able to do that. Also, some readers may not like a author's writing style. For example people may get board with a book that is written with lots of detail and not a lot of action, while other readers may become disappointed a book that is written with a lack of details and find that it doesn't fully describe what is going on in the author's mind.

We can relate easily to some books, but we can't relate to all books, but the mark of a good reader is someone who is able to understand a book even if its difficult to relate to. Reading such a book may not be particularly enjoyable, but it is important that we understand what is going on through the author's mind. Even if we find a book difficult and hard to identify with, we can still learn from the ideas that the author is expressing.
